Green Sparkle Yarn

h1 Sunday, March 30th, 2008

I carded a batt from some wool top that I dyed. I also added a ton of firestar and angelina, since sparkle makes everything better.

It is about 150 yards, though I am too lazy to go and count again.

My plan is to use it to weave it into something to put on my purple-tastic wall. I need a lot more, though.

Pumpkin Cupcake

h1 Sunday, March 30th, 2008

Over the past couple days I have been working on making my own cupcake pattern.  All in all, I am pretty darn proud of myself for actually finishing said pattern and it being decent.  Of course, a normal cupcake wouldn’t do.  Instead, I had to add something to make it better.

So… a Pumpkin Cupcake!

But wait!  I had to make it cuter.  And eyes always make something cuter…

The orange and green are Simply Soft, which are kind of hard to crochet with.  Today I am off to buy some Red Heart, since it is coarser and will be easier to work with.

Cupcake of Terror!

h1 Saturday, March 29th, 2008

I found this Cupcake pattern and just had to try it out. I started and finished in just one night, though by the end I was really tired and a little loopy.

“It’s Not Easy Being Green”

Isn’t he cute? (I don’t know why I think he’s a he.)

I am now crocheting my second cupcake, but with a pattern I make up as I go. I have an amazing idea, but I’m gonna finish it first before I can tell if it works.

Second and Third Wovens

h1 Saturday, March 29th, 2008

I wove up the rest of the yarn from “I Want Candy” into a longer, thicker, and all together better scarf. It is much more even, and about 5.5 feet, so long enough.

“Candyland”

“Jellybean” Woven from a colorway of the same name of Lion Brand Magic Stripes

This scarf is almost 9 feet long.  When I warped it, I just eyed it, so that is why it is so long.  While weaving, I was all “Why is this scarf taking so long?“  When I finally unwound it, I realized that it was insanely long.  Like almost Doctor Who length *geek reference*.

My next plan is to weave something for my wall, which is very boring (but purple!)

Weaving! My First Woven.

h1 Thursday, March 13th, 2008

Knitting led to spinning and I realized it would soon lead to weaving. And it did! I just bought a 24″ Beka Rigid Heddle Loom that came in the mail Tuesday. After struggling with the vague instructions with weird/unintelligible illustrations, I finally figured it out. It would be much easier to have a person teach me, but my aunt (a weaver) lives two states away, so no go.
I’m just so excited! I have 100 yards in the same colorway that I’m planning to make another *longer* scarf with.
Anyway…

“I Want Candy” Scarf, made with yarn dyed by marion on Etsy and spun by me.
Rolled up:

The two ends. See how I got better by the end? (the left side was where I started):

A shot of the whole scarf. It is only 50″ long or so:
