3 Funky Skirts

h1 Saturday, September 30th, 2006

Made these over the summer:

This took about two long days, since I had to cut sooooo many squares.

I wised up for this one and used strips instead of squares.

Jeans Recon- did this in May or June I think.

Spinning More

h1 Saturday, September 30th, 2006

I bought about a pound of colored merino and spun all this up within about four days. More expensive than I usually spend, but the colors are so vibrant. Now, the Yarn:

^ Punky Fairy, 2 ply merino. Normally pink isn’t my thing, but really like this <3

Midnight twist, 1 ply merino. If you look you can see that a dark purple and dark blue are twisted together.

Mermaid, Boucle domestic wool

Grape Candy, 2 ply merino.

Coils! Wish I could do more of this, but I desperately need the jumbo flyer. (unless I do tiny coils, but I don’t have that much patience)

Chocolate Candy, 1 ply merino

Black Ice, 1 ply. Not a fan of this one… don’t know why.

Bunch O’ Yarn

h1 Saturday, September 2nd, 2006

These are the first skeins of yarn I made with my new wheel. It goes sooooo fast, I can’t believe it!

^Boucle! The first time I made it, and I just love how it turned out. I used roving that I had dyed with food coloring.

^Just a single, but I dyed it with koolaid (lemonade and something else)

^I think this was the first yarn on my wheel. Dyed the roving and then the yarn with food coloring.

^Dyed with purple koolaid

^Very loosely plied, from pink roving and purple roving.

^The first time I plied, made from roving I dyed

^This was actually all done on a drop spindle, before I got my wheel. It is very thin. I love it when people do pictures with coins to show scale, so I had to do one:

I’ve made a few skeins since, but I haven’t taken any pictures yet.
