Spinning Wheel and Lots ‘o Yarn

h1 Friday, August 25th, 2006

I haven’t posted many projects lately, mostly because I have gotten lazy.  I got a spinning wheel for my birthday from my aunt (it was an old one of hers) so I have spent a lot of time spinning lately.  I’ll post pictures of the yarn I’ve made so far at a later time (when I get around to it)

Here it is:

On a separate note, I got a bag of yarn yesterday.  A big bag.  When standing in line to get my school papers and locker, I pulled out some knitting.  After knitting a few rows, my friend’s mom asked me if I wanted any yarn.  It turns out that they got a bunch from a relative, but no one in the family knits.  Of course I said yes, because who doesn’t need more yarn?

So I now have a big bag, but I haven’t looked through it yet.  I think it is mostly acrylic, but there may be some other stuff!

The Tick Messenger Bag

h1 Tuesday, August 8th, 2006

It started out as a backpack and was transformed into a messenger bag.

^After I washed it off (to lazy to dry it) ^
I found it in the back of my closet when cleaning it out. I don’t even remember getting it, but thought it was awesome. This was my first ever recon into a bag, but I think it went fantastic.

^The final product ^

The plan was to line the bag with orange, but there was only enough for the underside of the flap. My favorite part (it took a great deal of time too) was the strap. I cut the original straps off the backpack and sewed them onto the strap in a way that I can still adjust the length (since my hands always have to have something to do).

There is also a pocket on the outside under the flap.

Alas, I always forget the interfacing so it isn’t that stiff. Next time I will remember!

My Birthday Gift

A sewing machine! My very own, so I don’t have to share with my mom anymore. It is so nice having an easy to use machine (that Pfaff took a while to learn). I haven’t sewn much on it yet (just tested out different stitches) but I will once that purple satin gets here.

Yippee!

Thanks Mom and Dad

p.s. It’s so pretty, too!

My Ball Gown

h1 Tuesday, August 8th, 2006

A few days ago I decided I need my own ball gown.  No reason, really, just because.  After searching online to no avail, I was dragged to the store to look so I would stop whining.  I couldn’t believe that there weren’t more ball gown patterns.  I mean, who doesn’t need one?

So after looking through the costume pattern book about 5 times, I decided on a pattern: Simplicity 4479.  Exactly what I was looking for!  I paid for it and came home.

Soon after I set up a cart on fabric.com with all I need.  More expensive than I am used to paying for one outfit, but it will be worth it.  7.5 yards of a shiny purple satin is now on its way to my house.

I can’t wait!

Knit Stripey Zen Cases

h1 Friday, August 4th, 2006

I really like these. Two color combos that I like, and it was simple. I’ve never done stripes before in knitting, but it was easier than I thought. The drawstring is just a crochet chain with two strands of yarn.
