I wrote up the pattern for the crochet sphere.  I even remembered to take pictures of it (finally).

That Crochet Sphere…

h1 Thursday, January 29th, 2009

…is actually working!  I have now finished half of the wedges for the sphere.  I’m hoping that they will work!  I’m glad I stopped the first one, because it was way too small.  I don’t know how I convinced myself as long as I did that it was going to work.  I was almost halfway through it when I realized that it was about 3″ diameter (the goal was 6″).  Even after a late-night realization that my calculations were off (darn you arc length!! *brandishes fist*) I continued crocheting on it.

The only reason the knitting sphere worked was that knit is much stretchier.  And I did stretch it a lot.  Now I have to decide whether I will redo the knit one.  I guess it all depends on my laziness (be afraid. Be very afraid.).

Pumpkin Cupcake

h1 Sunday, March 30th, 2008

Over the past couple days I have been working on making my own cupcake pattern.  All in all, I am pretty darn proud of myself for actually finishing said pattern and it being decent.  Of course, a normal cupcake wouldn’t do.  Instead, I had to add something to make it better.

So… a Pumpkin Cupcake!

But wait!  I had to make it cuter.  And eyes always make something cuter…

The orange and green are Simply Soft, which are kind of hard to crochet with.  Today I am off to buy some Red Heart, since it is coarser and will be easier to work with.

Cupcake of Terror!

h1 Saturday, March 29th, 2008

I found this Cupcake pattern and just had to try it out. I started and finished in just one night, though by the end I was really tired and a little loopy.

“It’s Not Easy Being Green”

Isn’t he cute? (I don’t know why I think he’s a he.)

I am now crocheting my second cupcake, but with a pattern I make up as I go. I have an amazing idea, but I’m gonna finish it first before I can tell if it works.

Acrylic

h1 Monday, December 24th, 2007

I have a problem with acrylic.  No, I’m not a yarn snob.  My problem is that acrylic is just too affordable.  I go to Joann’s or Michael’s and can’t stop myself.  Next thing I know, I’m sitting at home with five new skeins of yarn around me with no idea how I got there.

I’ve got a bin full of different acrylics and no idea what to do with them.  An afghan won’t work out, since I don’t have that kind of attention span.  The last time I tried that, I ended up with more yarn.  So — scarves.  I know I am in California where it is only cold enough to wear for a month or so, but I’m desperate.  Yarn is being stuffed in every spare space in my closet.

I need to get rid of some of my stash.  Today I’m gonna start my first crochet scarf.  No idea what color or pattern, but it is happening.

Then again, there is a sale at Joann’s today…
