Valentine’s Day Present

h1 Sunday, February 22nd, 2009

I wanted to knit something for my DBF, so after hours of looking, I found the perfect thing!  The pattern is Elephante (pattern) from Ravelry.  I have not really made toys before, except for the stray cupcake.  This had a lot of pieces to be knit, so it seemed to take forever.  I tried to do jogless stripes, but misread the instructions so ended up with not-so-jogless stripes.  Oops.  It looks good anyway, so I am happy.  DBF also liked it, which was nice.  For V-Day, he also knit me a toy.  It was a kitty.  I <3 dating a knitter!  He apprecatiates the time and energy that goes into knit projects.

A Finished Bear and Crocheted Sphere

h1 Tuesday, January 27th, 2009

Last night while watching The Savages, I finished up my bear for the Mother Bear charity.  It took me about an hour to just seam him up, since I had so many ends to weave in, too.  The Savages was a good movie.  It was one of those ones that have a “bittersweet” ending that I like so much.

For my senior project for high school, I am knitting/crocheting/sewing spheres with my own patterns.  I have already finished the knit one, though I made a mistake in the pattern.  Knit is so stretchy that it worked anyway.  Today I finally figured out the math for the new crochet pattern. (The first crochet pattern was not even close to spherical.)  Now, I know it is probably much easier than I made it, because I had to use Calculus.

While watching my Guilty-Pleasure show (The Secret Life of the American Teenager–so cheesy/over-emotional but awesome none-the-less) I crocheted the first wedge.  Just 5 more to go!  I hope I don’t run out of yarn…

Mother Bear Project

h1 Sunday, January 25th, 2009

I am waiting for an order from Knitpicks.  In the meantime, I have decided to knit a bear for charity.  http://motherbearproject.org/ is their website.  I found out about it through the Knitting for Peace book.  So now I am getting close to finishing.  I just started the pants of the second half.  This is a really quick project!

I’ve been spending a lot more time knitting lately, which I am glad for.  I have also been trying to build up a stash for when I go away to college next year.

Pumpkin Cupcake

h1 Sunday, March 30th, 2008

Over the past couple days I have been working on making my own cupcake pattern.  All in all, I am pretty darn proud of myself for actually finishing said pattern and it being decent.  Of course, a normal cupcake wouldn’t do.  Instead, I had to add something to make it better.

So… a Pumpkin Cupcake!

But wait!  I had to make it cuter.  And eyes always make something cuter…

The orange and green are Simply Soft, which are kind of hard to crochet with.  Today I am off to buy some Red Heart, since it is coarser and will be easier to work with.

Cupcake of Terror!

h1 Saturday, March 29th, 2008

I found this Cupcake pattern and just had to try it out. I started and finished in just one night, though by the end I was really tired and a little loopy.

“It’s Not Easy Being Green”

Isn’t he cute? (I don’t know why I think he’s a he.)

I am now crocheting my second cupcake, but with a pattern I make up as I go. I have an amazing idea, but I’m gonna finish it first before I can tell if it works.
