Lion Crest Bag

h1 Thursday, August 23rd, 2007

I knit this for The Everything Harry Potter Swap. My partner has received so I can post this now. It took me a while, especially since I have never done stranded colorwork like this. But, oh, it was so fun! The picture is totally awesome, and works so well with the colors (yay for cheap yarn!).
Yarn: Woolease
Needles: US 7 (I think, they may have been 8s)

I wasn’t sure it was going to turn out but after blocking - wow!
The bag is entirely lined, and I even added lining to the handle (which is crocheted for thickness).

The plan is to make myself one with the Ravenclaw crest. I found these, though, which are amazing.

The Tick Messenger Bag

h1 Tuesday, August 8th, 2006

It started out as a backpack and was transformed into a messenger bag.

^After I washed it off (to lazy to dry it) ^
I found it in the back of my closet when cleaning it out. I don’t even remember getting it, but thought it was awesome. This was my first ever recon into a bag, but I think it went fantastic.

^The final product ^

The plan was to line the bag with orange, but there was only enough for the underside of the flap. My favorite part (it took a great deal of time too) was the strap. I cut the original straps off the backpack and sewed them onto the strap in a way that I can still adjust the length (since my hands always have to have something to do).

There is also a pocket on the outside under the flap.

Alas, I always forget the interfacing so it isn’t that stiff. Next time I will remember!

Knit Stripey Zen Cases

h1 Friday, August 4th, 2006

I really like these. Two color combos that I like, and it was simple. I’ve never done stripes before in knitting, but it was easier than I thought. The drawstring is just a crochet chain with two strands of yarn.

The X Bag

h1 Friday, August 4th, 2006

I got a pattern for this like six months ago. After I cut the pieces, I left it until the beginning of July. Usually I don’t use patterns, so the instructions took a few times to figure out. I just adore these fabrics that I used in the purse.

Detailing of the pockets (why it is called the ‘x bag’)

I didn’t like that the bag wasn’t lined, so if I make something like it again I’ll figure out how to line it. (and make it smaller)

Purple and Black Striped Case

h1 Friday, June 30th, 2006

So, I’ve been thinking. I feel that it is unfair for people with Ipods to be able to buy all these cool covers for them. I have a Zen (and love it to pieces) and want to be able to have cool covers. I mean, have you ever seen cases for Zens (I’ve got a micro) that aren’t just the cheap plastic ones? So I will make cases–loads of them–that are funky and cool. Any of my friends who have something other than an ipod will also get one. So there. *sticks tongue out* I’ll end my little rant now.
I’ve never crocheted with stripes before, so I thought I would start with something small (almost all my projects start as big purses and end up as thin bracelets or the like).

The whole case is done in single crochet, except for the top. The black at the very top of the case is scalloped (single, double, treble, double, single, etc.) which is also a first for me. I just crocheted a rectangle to fit my Zen and sewed it up after.

The case! I just love the bright purple (simply soft)

With my Zen showing. Mostly for scale, I guess.

I’m going to make more with green, pink, and other bright colors substituted in.
